Net Liquid Assets

Net liquid assets measure the cash a company could immediately access after covering its short-term obligations. They provide a snapshot of short-term financial flexibility and help assess a firm’s ability to meet payments, fund operations, and pursue opportunities without external financing.

Definition and formula

Liquid assets are items that can be quickly converted to cash at or near their current value, such as:
* Cash and cash equivalents
* Marketable securities
* Accounts receivable (net of expected bad debt)

Exclude less liquid items like inventory, prepaid expenses, and long-term assets.

Net liquid assets = Liquid assets − Current liabilities
